Tutorial Two

TECHNOLOGY!!!!!! Course: 'Participation in Occupational' at  Otago Polytechnic.
This blog is about Technology. Technology is a way for humans to communicate between each other and to make functioning in ones every day live easier, with the use of technology. I will be exploring many different contexts and issues around technology. I will be discussing the different issues and context I have covered in class.

Digital Camera compared to Traditional firm.

Digital cameras are an instant image. This is a good way to address what the photo looks like and if it is not a good image it can always be deleted. Compared to traditional firm which are reliable, a good way to keep records and have the element of surprise, due to not being able to see the instant photo. Digital cameras have to have many devices to complete stored photos. These things are computers, memory stick, power, GB, cables, C.D'S and the list goes on. All these devices are clear evidence that digital camera do have the capability to turn your life into a shamble rather than a convenience.

Ethical Issues

Digital Cameras have the ability to manipulate an image to make it look like something completely different to what the photo looked like. This is an ongoing concern for society who believe what they see is true. Media has a big part to blame, as there are no boundaries about what images are expectable to show on T.V, magazines and billboards. On the other hand, it is easy to take a photo without people knowing you are taking it. This ethical issue is a violation of privacy and can upset peoples well-being and attitude towards the issues round the photo that has been taken.

Digital images can be used in the workplace to provide convenience between work mates. I am studying Occupational Therapy and some of the things i have came across are people transferring images of the environment clients live in to ensure accurate work is being done. I liked that I did not have to be at the place where the photo was taken to do my work. It saved a lot of time for me. In this case a digital camera was a handy tool to have!

A good way to communicate is a service offered by flickr.com It is a place where anyone such as yourself can stay in touch with family and friends by shoring photos. It is a cool way to download photos and create images to suit individual needs!

Also,if you are keen to expanded your communicating, not only by showing photos through flickr.com. There is a service similar to Flickr.com called BEBO. This allows any individual to create an account to download photos. But wait there is more....you can also add as many friends or family members needed for you to keep in contact with, by writing comments to each other.

The differences between a digital and an optical zoom:

A digital zoom crops the image to a smaller size, then enlarges the cropped portion to fill the frame again. With digital zoom there is a significant loss of quality when the digital zoom is zooming. However, on the other hand, a Optical zoom keeps quality, works like a zoom lens on a film camera and magnification works as it is zooming! which one would you choose?
